He received his Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (B.M.A.S.) degree from Pune University in 1968 and a Master of Ayurvedic Science (M.A.Sc.) degree from Pune, India in 1980. He worked for three years as Medical Director at the Ayurveda Hospital in Pune. For seven years he held a chair as Professor of Clinical Medicine at Pune University College of Ayurvedic Medicine, where he was a teacher for many years.
