The test is divided into two main parts. First, the actual measurement is carried out using a simple laboratory self-test to analyse the long-term blood sugar level (HbA1c) in the capillary blood from the fingertip in the form of a dry blood test. It has been scientifically proven that this technique is just as accurate as a venous blood sample when it comes to analysing long-term blood sugar levels.

All that is required is a few drops of blood on a Whatman filter paper - a process that takes less than a minute. The blood is then analyzed by VITAS Analytical Services in Norway, one of the world's leading laboratories in this field.

The result will be displayed after about 10-20 days on the website zinzinotest.com under your personal, anonymous test ID. This measurement provides important information about your body's current ability to control blood sugar. Knowing your current values ​​gives you the opportunity to make positive decisions and take action.

To know what action to take, the second part of the test consists of an assessment of your lifestyle. What we measure
The hemoglobin A1c test we use to measure long-term blood sugar levels measures the amount of A1c hemoglobin proteins that have glucose bound to them. On average, the higher the blood sugar level, the more glucose is bound to it. It is expressed in units of mmol/mol (millimoles per mole), which has been the standard measure of blood sugar levels since 2009.The result is then divided into one of four different categories:

normal range                         < 34 mmol/mol
Area to be monitored precisely   34 – < 38 mmol/mol
prediabetic range            38 – < 47 mmol/mol
diabetic area                    > 47 mmol/mol

Danger!
If the HbA1c level is within the normal range or closely monitored, the validated risk assessment for developing type 2 diabetes is provided, whereas if the level is in the prediabetic range or above, the risk assessment is not provided because measures are already recommended.
