Ground turmeric powder (haridra, haldi, turmeric) is a golden yellow root from the same family as ginger. The Flavor is bitter and hot. Kapha, Pitta and Vata are balanced by turmeric.
Current medical research is enthusiastic about the Ayurvedic medicinal root turmeric. Its secondary plant compound curcumin in particular is considered a natural medicine and a therapeutic supplement for many common diseases such as rheumatism, diabetes and cancer (preventive).
Diabetes is common and is divided into two types: Type I diabetes and Type II diabetes. Type II diabetes is more harmless compared to Type I diabetes, but more common. Around 95% of people with diabetes suffer from the less aggressive type II form. Type II diabetes can be treated well through early detection and subsequent changes in lifestyle and diet. Current studies attribute the secondary plant substance in turmeric to a preventive effect, so that the development of diabetes can be prevented.
