The Diedrich family had already produced avocado oil in California in 1967 and 1968. It was pressed in their own garage using a wine press from Italy and then bottled in the kitchen. This pure and gently pressed oil was sold at weekly markets and by mail order. The first knowledge of jojoba oil and tea tree oil also dates from this time. The beginning of a great passion.

Born in Germany, raised in America and with a few stops along the way, including with various indigenous peoples of the world, Carl-Michael Diedrich finally settled in Germany. He worked as a dental technician for many years.  He used the basic knowledge from his training combined with his own research to produce his first tooth and face creams. These were distributed to friends and acquaintances and enjoyed great popularity.

Encouraged by this success, Carl-Michael Diedrich continued to work on his concept of natural cosmetics with as few different ingredients as possible. Because when it comes to the skin, “less is more”.

In 1992 he began developing a tea tree oil cosmetics range. This resulted in several products that were innovative for the entire market and were later copied very frequently.  The tea tree oil cosmetics range now includes more than 30 products. It is the largest tea tree oil series in the world!

As more and more people wanted to buy Carl-Michael Diedrich's products, he founded the company CMD Naturkosmetik in 1994, which bears his initials. His goal is to inspire many people with caring cosmetics based on natural and valuable raw materials. The "one-man operation" quickly became a production company that now employs around 40 people and has over 160 products in its range.

The company philosophy “less is more”, the extensive know-how and the ability to offer everything from development to shipping from a single source; these are important features that distinguish CMD Naturkosmetik from other providers.

More than 20 years after his beginnings in the natural cosmetics market, Carl-Michael Diedrich has fulfilled his dream: his own company building. Since autumn 2016, CMD Naturkosmetik has moved into its own company headquarters with warehouse sales in the UNESCO World Heritage city of Goslar.

But the visions go further. In a second construction phase in a few years, the dream of a transparent production facility will be realized.
